Does upgrade to management console still need to have database stopped first?

Hi.

This is an upgrade from 12.1.3  (12.1.3001.156) to 12.1.4 Mp1a.

Does one still need to stop the database manager before running the upgrade on the console or does the install routine now take care of all that?
