SEPM Reports Page not Working

I need a solution

We've never been able to use the Reports page in SEPM and I'm trying to get that working.

Possible related factors:

  • We have a stand-alone network with absolutely no connection to the internet.
  • When we first login to SEPM we always get two identical error messages saying:
    "Content within this application coming from the website listed below is being blocked by Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration."
    ...then it names the SEPM server as https://<sepmserver>
  • The above settings are controlled by GPO.
  • We are using the most current version of SEPM.

Is it necessary to have this connection to IE in order to view/use the Reports page?

Activating SMSMSE Premium Anti-Spam causes High Disk IO

Hi.

We have SMSMSE 7.5.0.56 installed on SBS2011 (Please note - Symantec Manager is NOT installed on this server)

When we enable 'Symantec Premium Antispam' there is a noticable large increase in Disk Activity to the main drive C: - specifically to the following folder:

c:\users\smsmse\AppData\Local\Temp\tmd00000 - where smsmse is the user we setup when installing the product and tmd00000 is an ever increasing number sich as tmd09294.

In addition the file name seems to change also - e.g. - tmd09294 and then a few moments later tme09123 or tmf09321

The disk activty can ramp up to 100% constistantly with a 20 - 30 disk queue.

If we turn off 'Symantec Premium Antispam' the disk activity drops down to virtually nothing as you would expect when the server is not doing anything.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

DLP Combo rule

I need a solution

We are getting a request to explore the options to have a rule to look combo information in a traffic like if we can see Name & Date of birth of a client in an email.

 

Can it be done with the EDM? DOB can be written multiple ways so how to suppress the false positive?

If we have Multiple names\DOBs in an email. How to look for same Name with same DOBs? That may account for more False positive.

Does anyone has come across any such requirement?

Reporting on TLS encryption

We would like to be able to report on messages that are sent or recieved with or without TLS encryption. It looks like Messaging Gateway does not have this type of reports. Running message log audits the information is showing up in each message but it is missing in CSV export.

PGP Virtual Disk data still accessible after disconnecting

I need a solution

I created a virtual disk on a USB drive with a secure pass phrase. While the virtual disk was mounted I accidently disconnect my USB drive from my Laptop. However the virtual disk still showed in my computer. I tried to unmount it but it would not let me. I powered down the laptop and restarted but it was still showing.

I then connected a different USB drive and mounted a different virtual disk and could see the new virtual disk and the previous one in my computer. I unmounted the new virtual disk and powered down my laptop and disconnected my USB drive.

I then powered on my PC with NO USB devices connected. To my astonishment the second virtual drive still showed as mounted in my computer AND I could navigate the folders to a notepad file (.txt) and open it! How can this happen when the .txt file is supposed to be securely kept on virtual disk on a USB device that is no longer connected!!!

Please can someone tell me how this is possible and what I need to do to make sure my files are secure even after unmounting a virtual disk.

My laptop is running Windows 8 and I was using Symantec Encription Desktop 10.3

Symantec Mail Sec Exchange not sending notifications external Exch 2013 Win2012R2

Hello,

I have Exchange 2013 CU9 running on Windows 2012R2 - all the latest MS patches.

I've raised symantec transport settings.

I content is being blocked however it isn't sending info to external people that is is being blocked.   I have it set to block on inbound, notification to external sender,  I have monitor notification setting set up with the right email address and the IP of the server.

I've sent MANY tests with special keywords I'm blocking for testing and they get blocked - it registers in symantec as being blocked however I get no notification response.

Ability to choose to store incident data locally instead of the Database

There are various products and even some Symantec Products like Symantec Messaging Security (formerly Symantec Brightmail Gateway) providing a feature to enable organizations to be able to store incident data locally instead of storing it into the oracle database. These days the compliance requirements are getting more & more unique with at times administrators requiring to perform heavy monitoring generating a stream of heavy incident data. Not to forget the requirement to even retain heavy attachments for endpoint incidents now.

Considering all of this, mostly environments have database sizes in TBs generally and incident data is the only culprit for such situations. I feel it would be nice to be able to store all this incdent data locally (maybe encrypted too).

Performance Issues with CD/DVD Burners

Enforce / Agent / Endpoint Server: 14.0 v

Hello,

Is out there anyone already using CD/DVD Application Monitoring with the new 14.0v? I've been noticing some not expected results:

Burning software manual added to Application Monitoring (AM) becomes unresponsive as soon as it is opened by the end-user, making it impossible to work with (e.g.  CDBurnerXP). Similar issue happening with the burning software natively supported by Symantec DLP (e.g  BurnAware and DeepBurner). Along with the unresponsive issue, the applications take several minutes to open/show-up since the process is started. Different settings within the AM were tried to achieve a better performance but without practical results. As explained in admin guide, using Application File Access with Open only (instead of Read) in order to avoid performance issues was tried as well but the problem still remains.

Any input would be more than welcome.

I need a solution

I drafted this an idea for this one, however like before - I thought of putting this up as a discussion item - to investigate whether/if there is a known workaround this already

sounds unlikely to me though :-)

Remove Offline VDI Clients via Script

I need a little assistance on this one...

Symantec Technical Support advised that we could remove offline VDI clients from SEPM using a script.  Due to the way our environment is set up, we are unable to tag the registry on our base image to mark the clients as non-persistent (Making the automatic removal setting useless).  This presents a problem since it causes our license count to climb once a VDI client goes offline.
 

What I am looking for is a script that can remove clients from a particular group in SEPM based on Last Status Change.  All the research I have done makes it look like this isn't possible.

Content Updates from 2nd SEPM

I need a solution

I have my main SEPM on a server here at our main location, and another SEPM set up at another site and configured as a replication partner. I'd like to have the devices at the remote site get their content updates from the server running SEPM there. What is the proper way to set this up? I have tried designating that server as a GUP but it's not working. All my other GUPs are working fine. In the sylink log it's showing "Downloaded new content update from Group Update Provider failed. Remote file path: <path of delta>" for the devices trying to use that server as their GUP.

Is there a way to point them toward the SEPM installed on the server there for updates as opposed to trying to set it as a GUP? I feel like I'm probably missing something obvious/easy here. Thanks in advance for any help.

Log storage and archiving for PCI compliance

There needs to be a way to store / archive logs seperately from the SEPM database.

This request comes after reviewing PCI regulations which state that to be compliant, at least 1 year of logs need to be available. 3 months need to be immediately available and the balance of the year needs can be near line or on tape ready to be restored.

Cannot export DLP Agent package

Hi,

Hope someone can help.

System is Windows 2008 R2, v12.5, Oracle on same box, no detection servers on same box.

When I try to create and export an Endpoint Agent package, I get an error "createpackage couldn't be downloaded". I have tried saving, saving as, different paths, both 32 and 64 bit clients, all with no joy.

This is the second time this has happened, and it's a brand new build from scratch. It did this before also, before I scrapped it all and rebuilt (for other reasons).

If anyone has an idea of what I'm doing wrong, it'd be gratefully appreciated.

Using VIP for Authentication LAN Users

I need a solution

Hello all , I have Installed VIP EG and have also got access to VIP Cloud Portal . I am testing it for evaluation and testing . I was wondering that Can I make my LAN users authentication VIA VIP . I do not see any integration guide availalble for VIP Integration with AD. Is it possible to do that ? 

I have properly set up with VIP EG and VIP portal , I just need to test now as how to the actual two factor authentication is happening. your responses will be appreciated
